High Pressure High Temperature Tools:

The PTSC-350° production logging tool is a fully rated memory based system that offers excellent levels of performance and reliability. Over 65 man years of experience developing very high temperature rated tools have culminated in the PTSC-350° development.

Reliable
Field proven to be reliable, field worthy and simple to use the PTSC-350° is available in two basic models – low pressure geothermal applications and high pressure oil & gas. Both are manufactured to exacting standards with all wetted parts conforming to NACE-MR-0175-2000.

Long life
A 4-cell battery pack* coupled to low power electronics ensure a long (100 hour ) operational life. This is complimented by a 500,000 data (set) sample capacity. The data sampling rate is selectable up to 10Hz. Data is extracted via a simple interface onto a laptop computer (supplied). Here the data can be displayed and log quality assessed while in the field. The data format (CSV) enables export to third party software packages.

Secure data
The surface data (depth and time) is logged on an independent embedded computer in the surface control unit offering increased reliability over PC’s. The use of FLASH memory both downhole and surface ensures data retention in the event of power loss.

Complete package
The PTSC-350° is supplied as a complete package with downhole/surface system, laptop PC, depth system, all cables, operational spares and service tools supplied as standard.Optional petal basket flow meter head and custom specifications are available.* Batteries have UL approval and can shipped without restriction.

High Pressure Hydraulic Power Packs

Since 2003 Calidus has been engaged in the research, development and manufacture of custom high pressure hydraulic power units (HPU’s) for a number of clients. In 127mm (5”) or smaller diameters the HPU’s are either a pressure intensifying system fed with LP fluid from surface e.g. coiled tubing deployed or are fully autonomous wireline conveyed systems with on-board fluid reservoirs and pumps. Output pressures are in the order of 2400bar (35kpsi). The HPU’s are fully instrumented providing pressure and flow data as well as CCL/gamma for depth control, the data either going into memory or to surface according to the application.

For the Badger Explorer project the HPU provides power for various functions, the embedded electronics providing full duplex communication and control of the tool.

Very Large Diameter Caliper

Designed to meet a clients operational specification, the caliper is an example of a project where Calidus Engineering Ltd has contributed to the cost of the development and retains full, shared IPR. The caliper is able to measure 3m (118”) diameter pile holes with a 2mm accuracy. Being aimed at the civil engineering industry the tool needs to be robust, easy to clean and as light in weight as possible.

Though somewhat outside of our standard range of tool system applications it demonstrates how we can apply our knowledge to more unusual tasks.
